Ancient tools of navigation
In the old world, during the Age of Discovery, new tools needed to be created in order to venture far out into the seas. Even in the B.C. era, in the traveling of the Mediterranean Sea, tools were greatly needed for guidance of ships. Some tools, like the astrolabe and compas, helped the explorers figure out where they were going and where they were. Other tools, like the lead line, helped them understand more about the ocean geography itself. Different civilizations, such as the Polynesians, Chinese and Vikings, all used different boats, tools, and methods of keeping records.
